The objectives of C.I.O.F.F.
Since 1970, C.I.O.F.F. has worked for the safe guard and diffusion of traditional
culture. Trough its actions, C.I.O.F.F. aims for the following main objectives:
- Promote the intangible heritage, trough such forms of expression as dance,
music, gamers, rituals, custums and other arts
- Serve the ojectives of UNESCO
- Support the activities of its members and those of non-governmental organizations
working in the areas of folklore and cultural heritage
- Serve the cause of peace, through meeting the above objectives
Membership
With more than 70 National Sections and various associate members, C.I.O.F.F.
is present in about 80 countries on all continents. The National Section C.I.O.F.F.
Lėtzebuerg has been founded in 1977.
The activities of C.I.O.F.F.
- Each year, C.I.O.F.F. accomplishes a great number of tasks:
- Coordination of about 250 International Festivals of folk arts
- International exchanges between folklore groups reaching some 50000 artists
- Participation in UNESCO programs
- Transmission of cultural heritage to children and youth
- Conferences, symposia and exhibitions
- Publications: C.I.O.F.F. calendar, Information Bulletin, Reports
- Cooperation with various national and international organisations and
with non-governamental organisations
- Every 4 years: C.I.O.F.F. World Folkloriada ( 2004 in Hungary)
